O AI goes to school launches the 1.st edition of the interactive map of AI in the classrooms in Portugal. Each point on the map represents a teacher or librarian who has taught their students about AI or how to use AI, together with their lesson plans. All lesson plans shared with AI goes to school have been curated, with a highlight on those that prioritise pedagogical concerns, combined with a responsible, critical, and ethical use of AI.

The interactive map will be continuously updated throughout the school year. This celebration of the map’s “first edition” highlights what has been shared so far and will serve as inspiration for all teachers as the new 2026/27 school year begins.

The goal of the map is for other teachers to learn about various ways to integrate AI into the classroom, find inspiration, and even adapt some of the activities for their own classrooms.

The map already covers all five levels of education — primary, middle school, lower secondary, upper secondary and higher education — with lesson plans that reveal a shared focus on prioritising AI literacy, critical reflection on its use, and understanding the advantages and disadvantages of using AI for studying and in students’ lives. That same focus also runs across subjects as different as English, Science, Philosophy, History and Geography, extends into more technical areas such as Digital Systems, Information and Communication Technologies, Multimedia, Technology Education and Introduction to Machine Learning, and reaches contexts such as the school library, vocational education, higher education, and school-specific offerings like Digital Study and Innovation — showing that the pedagogical use of AI is no longer confined to a single curricular area.
