Celebrating Innovation in Education: Spotlight on Cláudia Meirinhos & Marta Pinto

At AI Goes to School, we believe that innovation in education is powered by experience, passion, creativity and knowledge.

We are proud to highlight two inspiring members of our team whose work has been featured by AI for Education — Cláudia Meirinhos and Marta Pinto — and to celebrate how their journeys reflect our shared commitment to advancing AI in teaching and learning.

Cláudia Meirinhos: Cultivating AI Literacy in Primary Education

Recognized in AI for Education’s Women in AI + ED spotlight for K–12, Cláudia Meirinhos is a primary school teacher in Portugal who is breaking new ground in AI literacy for young learners. Her contributions include:

  • She published an e-book about AI in Primary School, offering accessible guidance for teachers to integrate AI-literacy into early schooling – available in Portuguese.
  • She developed and delivered a curricular unit on AI, enabling her students to engage with AI concepts in an age-appropriate and hands-on way – with very positive outcomes.
  • Her EcoKids teach AI project bridges environmental education and AI: students learn about recycling, then train an AI model to classify waste, making connections between real-world challenges and computational thinking.

Cláudia’s work places AI at the heart of inquiry-based, student-centered learning. In doing so, she is helping build a future where all students can think critically about, and with, AI.

Marta Pinto: Connecting Classrooms, Teachers & AI Tools

Featured in AI for Education’s Nonprofit / Research / Training spotlight, Marta Pinto is the founder of AI Goes to School, shaping how teachers and schools engage with AI. Her contributions include:

  • Building spaces for collaboration and dialogue among educators, students, and schools so that AI’s adoption can be informed, responsible, and ethical.
  • Connects teachers and schools with reference lesson plans, across levels, showing how to “teach with AI” and “teach about AI” in meaningful, contextually relevant ways.
  • Advocating for effective, responsible, and ethical AI use in education, pushing against simplistic or hype-driven views and emphasizing thinking, agency, and student well-being as central.

Marta links theory and practice. Builds dialogue space and collaboration with teachers, schools, and students to support AI’s effective, responsible, and ethical use in education.

Their journeys reflect what is most important at AI goes to school: AI in education is not just about tools or technology, it’s about ethics, people, critical thinking, and connection.
